About Me
My name is Christian Laverton, and I’m responsible for all sensible and not-so-sensible content on this blog. As you’ve probably noticed, the blog focuses on programming and chess, my main occupations in life.
I graduated from NTNU the summer of 2007, making me a Master of Science in the field of Computer Science. Currently I’m working for Microways, a company developing software for the mobile market. We mainly develop Java (J2ME) applications for mobile phones. Combined with previous experience with the programming language, this makes Java my main area of expertise. Also, I’m an experienced web system developer, specifically PHP and Java (J2EE).
My main hobby is chess, an intriguing and dangerously addictive game. Although I was introduced to the game many many years ago, I didn’t really understand how much the game appealed to me until a few years ago. I started playing actively in late 2005, playing my first tournament games in Knut Brokstads Minneturnering 2005. Until recently I played for the student club in Trondheim, TSSK, but recently switched to the main club in Trondheim, TSF, as I’m no longer a student. At the moment my norwegian rating is close to 1700, which means I’ve improved quite a lot since I started in 2005. I don’t have a FIDE rating yet, but I’m guessing that this is somewhere around 2000.
